Teeth can be extensively decayed and “broken down” to a point where they are not restorable, not salvageable, and hence need to be extracted. In other situations, teeth may have lost a significant amount of their surrounding supporting tissue (bone loss and soft tissue attachment), and they would have developed very deep periodontal pockets. These teeth are often mobile at this stage, not salvageable and therefore need to be extracted. Wisdom teeth do not always need to be removed, but sometimes it is required. Such cases include the presence of infection and impaction (mal-positioned for eruption and the potential for infection, adjacent tooth damage etc…) as well as the presence of significant decay and consistently very poor oral hygiene in the area. We offer sedation with the services of an oral and maxillofacial surgeon where needed.
